New York Rangers pull Matt Rempe after poor play
Matt Rempe has become one of the best-known players in the NHL in his first season in the league. However, this player recently had to be taken off the ice for the New York Rangers after poor gameplay against the Washington Capitals.
Matt Rempe has turned eyes and cheeks with his constant fighting on the ice. With the New York Rangers in the playoffs after taking the President's trophy, this player has seen a major step up in his game from the regular season. This player made his first career playoff goal in their first round against the Washington Capitals.

However, it appears that this player could not keep up this momentum, and has seen his game decline in their series against the Washington Capitals. In their fourth and final match against the team, Rempe was nowhere to be seen during the third period.
"Matt Rempe time on ice in Game 4. Didn't see the ice in the third period. #NYR"
With no definitive answer as to why New York did not utilize Rempe during the third period theorized on his absence. Many believe this was because he could not properly defend against a prior goal, or that this player is too much of a liability this late in the game.
Others suggest this was intended to provide the rookie with more rest time and protection. With the team likely to sweep the Capitals by the end of the night, an injured Mat Rempe would not be great for a team trying to advance past the second round of playoffs.
With the New York Rangers successful in sweeping the Washington Capitals in the first round of this year's playoffs, Matt Rempe still has the potential to get his game back. However, without any ice time, he will hardly have a chance to prove himself at all.
