The New York Rangers' rookie Matt Rempe nearly got ejected on his first playoff shift with a borderline hit on Washington Capitals' Beck Malenstyn.
With less than two minutes into the first period of the series between the Rangers and the Capitals, Rempe landed a questionable hit on Malenstyn that resulted in a two-minute minor penalty.

As soon as he stepped on the ice, Rangers fans were quick to chant his name

It's safe to say that the tone of the series has been set i the first few minutes of the game. Four penalties were called in the first half of the period:
"Four penalties called in the first 8:32 of Game 1 between the Rangers and Capitals. Both teams have had a power play; neither scored. Now it's 4-on-4."
