Toronto Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews had silly excuses for his team's humiliating game one loss at the hands of the Boston Bruins.

Not only did the Leafs lost by a whopping 5-1 score, they made crucial mistakes that the Bruins were able to capitalize on.
Matthews definitely has a part of the blame to take. He failed to add his name to the scoresheet, and even missed an opened net that led to the Bruins' second goal:
Check out the Bruins' goal and Matthew's blunder in the video below:
After the game, his a press conference, Matthews gave silly excuses for the Leafs' bad performances:
"I mean, I can think of a couple things. Obviously, too many penalties. I think. you give a team like that many opportunities on the man advantage, they're going to capitalize. And, you know, I thought started out pretty good game, and then, you know, just little mistakes. They're a very patient team and they executed on the mistakes that we made. It's a game of inches.

You know, we get a taste of what the series is all about here in this game. And, you know, we just continue to elevate our game and continue, continue to put our best foot forward and get better."

When your job is to score goals and you fail at it, don't look for excuses, just look in the mirror.
Do you think the Bruins will sweep the Leafs in the first round?
