The Philadelphia Flyers have a blockbuster showdown coming against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and after rumours emerged about a shock healthy scratch, the team have confirmed that today.
Despite being handed the captaincy of the iconic Philadelphia Flyers just 34 days ago, veteran forward Sean Couturier has officially confirmed that he will be scratched for the upcoming Tuesday night battle with Toronto.
"Control what I can control, it is what it is," Couturier said, per O'Connor.
He added: "Just gotta leave my ego aside, I guess, and hopefully the team finds a way to get a win here tonight, and I can get back into it soon."
At this point, it doesn't appear that he's bitter about the situation, but given the captaincy just over a month ago and the team fighting for a playoff spot, it's certainly an interesting call from veteran Head Coach John Tortorella.
In 64 games this season, the 31-year old has tallied 11 goals and 36 points, with the team now just one point up on the Washington Capitals in the Eastern Conference Wild Card race, so the next few weeks are crucial to their playoff hopes, with Couturier likely to be inserted back into the lineup soon.
