Blockbuster trade proposal emerges to send Mitch Marner to the Vegas Golden Knights

Mitch Marner's tenure in Toronto is one of the most puzzling in recent NHL memory, as he is a consistent regular season performer, but after failing year after year in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, it appears his future may exist beyond Toronto.

For the majority of the summer, there's been plenty of trade speculation around the veteran forward, and while it's died down lately, it certainly hasn't gone away as rosters get set for the 2024/25 season.

Now, a potential blockbuster has emerged that would send Shea Theodore and Brayden McNabb for Toronto, with the Vegas Golden Knights adding yet another superstar in Marner.

For this to happen, the Calgary Flames would facilitate some salary cap relief in exchange for an extra draft pick, with both other teams significantly upgrading their rosters as they chase a Stanley Cup.

On paper, it could be a great trade that sees Toronto add a star on the blue line and Vegas give Jack Eichel a star winger, but it may not be something that either GM is in a rush to do.

If the 2025 trade deadline rolls around and neither team have improved, this could be the move to make however, so keep an eye on Vegas as a potential candidate for Mitch Marner.
