The Toronto Maple Leafs are undergoing plenty of change in the front office, and it may lead to their President of Hockey Operations doing the unthinkable.

For years now, the Toronto Maple Leafs have failed to live up to their potential, especially in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and if they fail again, changes are coming. Many expected President of Hockey Operations Brendan Shanahan to already be a part of those changes, but now, all signs point to the front office moving on next summer if nothing changes.
Now, one reporter has suggested that this could lead to him making some big changes, including a potential change to their Core Four, with Shanahan revealing to the media that the team are looking at all possibilities. The obvious change would be to trade Mitch Marner, but with John Tavares likely to depart in free agency, that also becomes a major possibility.
On the surface, it sounds like a ridiculous notion that Toronto would change their Core Four given how beloved they are, but after just one playoff series victory, no one could blame him if he looks to make a change. The other potential change would be moving one of their top prospects in Fraser Minten or Easton Cowan, and with GM Brad Treliving's job likely to be more safe, it may become a power struggle, but everything is possible right now.
Whether it happens or not, only time will tell, but with his job potentially on the line, don't be shocked if Toronto look to make a major change if the season starts slow in 2024/25.
