At UFC 304 last week, some UFC fighters and judges watched videos of previous fights in sports, and one of those was Ovechkin's knockout win from 2019.

Some of the other NHL fights that impressed the judges and UFC fighters were Evander Kane's big win over Matt Cookie and Kevin Bieksa's superhero punch of Radko Gudas. However, the one that really impressed everyone the most was Alex Ovechkin's famous knockout win over Andrei Svechnikov from the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs.
«That's fantastic stuff,» Aspinall said. Here's the full transcript of the fighters reacting to Ovechkin's fight:
Belal Muhammad: They're just holding and throwing.

Tom Aspinall: Oh they're just going at it. Oh! He knocked him out! Again!

Paddy Pimblett: Crazy them. Though like punching each other with helmets on, it's going to hurt your hand.

Belal Muhammad: Nonchalant about it. Oh, that was Ovechkin!!

Paddy Pimblett: When I think of this, I just think of «Goon.»

Belal Muhammad: Oh, this guy's rocked.

Molly McCann: He can't even get on his feet here.

Tom Aspinall: Standard procedure. I'll just have a sit down, let this fella come around a little bit.

Belal Muhammad: You should've never stepped up.

Leon Edwards: That is f***ing mad.

Belal Muhammad: Hockey fights are worse than Power Slap.

Some of the fighters felt that Ovi had an even better technique than some actual UFC fighters. Joe Rogan was very impressed and said «That's a good KO. «He's out cold. Look at that. Oh yeah, that guy can punch. You're punching in the face while he's punching you in the face, too. It's chaos.»
Here is Joe Rogan's reaction to when he saw Ovi's fight.

Ovechkin also received praise from Connor McGregor who congratulated him on social media after he had won the fight.
Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals will need to turn his attention away from fighting and to scoring goals, as he is 41 away from tying Wayne Gretzky's all-time NHL goal record. The Great 8 currently has 853 goals and 1,550 points in 1,426 career games.
