There's been a new development regarding Patrik Laine that could indicate that a trade is incoming.
Following a tough season, where he played only 18 games because of injuries and the player assistance program, the Columbus Blues Jackets' general manager Don Waddell was clear when he said he'd be willing to listen to trade offers for the 6'5" Finnish forward.
Back then, he said:
"We're still working with his agent. He's still in the program. Once he gets out, we expect any day or sometime soon, teams I've talked about, they wanna talk to him. It's too early to say about money. Our hope is we wouldn't have to hold money. We want to make a hockey trade if we can and certainly exhaust every opportunity and every team that potentially has interest in it."
In a new development, Laine officially returned on the ice, meaning he could get out of the Player Assistance Program, which will help his organization to pull off a trade.
"Patrik Laine has officially resumed training for the upcoming season, which suggests that he might soon receive medical clearance and thus leave the assistance program. Needless to say, when that happens, and teams can talk to the forward, the chances of a trade materializing will be much higher."
