We are witnessing history in the NHL with Auston Matthews almost at the 70 goal mark, making him the first NHL player to score 70 goals in the modern era since Teemu Selanne. However, during the intense matchup versus the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday, Sheldon Keefe pulled off a questionable move regarding number 34.

Auston Matthews, the Toronto Maple Leafs' franchise player, made history on Tuesday night. He scored his 66th goal of the season, surpassing Alex Ovechkin for the most goals by any active player in a single season.
Auston Matthews buried the team's fourth goal of the night making it 4-2 in the third period. Once the Devils had pulled their goalie, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe decided to put on more defensive minded players such as David Kampf instead of record chasing Auston Matthews. Some may argue that it was an ignorant move by the Leafs coach as for example, the Washington Capitals make sure Alex Ovechkin is on whenever a goal chance is presented to beat Wayne Gretzky's all time goal scoring lead.
Don't look back! Papi is on a heater, as last night in a rematch versus the New Jersey Devils, Auston Matthews scored two goals, marking his April totals to 7 goals in 5 games this month. The Leafs star now trails by two goals to hit 70 with three games remaining!
