It was just reported that Mark Stone will return to practice this week for the Las Vegas Golden Knights, and now Frank Seravalli has called out the team for their usage of LTIR.

If it only happened once, this conversation likely wouldn't be happening, however, a pattern has emerged for the Las Vegas Golden Knights and their usage of LTIR for Mark Stone. This season, the Knights placed Mark Stone on LTIR for a lacerated spleen, a serious injury, however, he is already back on the ice for non-contact practice. This has drawn the scrutiny of insider Frank Seravalli.
"Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone cleared to resume practicing with team"

"Huge eye roll here. I've reported all along that the lacerated spleen is a legitimate, serious injury. There's been no shenanigans.

But man, Stone coming back to practice for second year in a row one week before playoffs is some seriously fortuitous timing."
It was immediately noted that the Vegas Golden Knights have done this for the past three seasons. Last year, it was a major factor in the Knights' Stanley Cup Championship. This should be enough for the NHL to investigate what is going on.

The Knights are clearly exposing a loophole in the NHL's salary cap, and honestly, I don't blame them for bending the rules. If they are misreporting injuries, though, that is a whole other issue. Either way, the NHL should take a serious look at what is going on in Sin City.
