The NHL Alumni Association announced that Stephen Peat tragically passed away on Thursday morning. Peat was a victim of a tragic accident two weeks ago and succumbed to the injuries after a two-week fight.

The former Stephen Peat enforcer was a fan-favorite during his short tenure, playing in 130 regular-season games with the franchise. He would record only ten points but had a staggering 234 penalty minutes.
The Princeton, British Columbia native was a second-round draft pick by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the 1998 NHL Draft. He didn't appear in any games for the Mighty Ducks but found a home in Washington two years later.
Stephen was loved by so many people, and an example of that is his selfless decision to be an organ donor in the wake of the tragedy. The Alumni Association stated that many lives will be saved through organ donation by Stephen.
The Peat family is in everyone's thoughts at HockeyOTB as they deal with this unthinkable tragedy.
