A new report has found the biggest need for the Winnipeg Jets at the trade deadline. After identifying this need players to fill the hole have been suggested.

Jets Biggest Need Has Been Revealed

The Winnipeg Jets have been off to a fantastic start to the 2023-24 season. Like any team there are still improvements that could be made. With this in mind one source identified the biggest need for the Jets. A video by Jets Hub has revealed that the biggest need is a number two center.
A bigger boost at the trade deadline would be getting a number two centerman. A true number two centerman. As much as I love Vlad Namestnikov he's a probably guy you want in your top nine.

With Namestnikov being more of a bottom-six piece for a playoff team the Jets need to find someone to pair with Kyle Connor once healthy and Cole Perfetti. After identifying this need within the lineup Jets Hub explored who could fill the role.

Trade Targets Emerge For The Winnipeg Jets At The Trade Deadline

When exploring options for a replacement in the top six several names came to mind. Let's look at who could be available to the Jets.

First up is Flyers veteran center Sean Couturier. Couturier is back to his old self this season with 27 points in 38 games. On pace for his highest point total since 2019-20. The Flyers are currently a contending team so they might be hesitant to part with Couturier driving the price up.

Next up is Buffalo Sabres Casey Mittelstadt. Mittelstadt has had an up-and-down career but has popped off over the last season or so. His contract ends after this season in Buffalo which means Buffalo could be willing to move him when his value is high. Buffalo is currently out of the playoff race which means they could be open to moving on.

Lastly, Claude Giroux was mentioned as an option. Giroux is 36 years old now which means this would likely be just a rental to chase a Stanley Cup. With how underwhelming the Senators have been they might be eager to move on from an expiring older player.
Of these options, Mittelstadt is likely the most long-term move depending on how he fits in. Giroux of course is the short-term option. Couturier is in the middle ground with the potential to be a longer-term option.
