The Winnipeg Jets hosted the Colorado Avalanche for game one of the playoffs tonight. The game quickly turned into a shooting gallery as both goalies were not sharp. In the first period alone, the teams combined for six goals.
The game opened with Valeri Nichuskin taking advantage of a bad line change by the Jets to snipe one off the bar and in to give the Avs an early 1-0 lead. However, that was far from the only exciting play in the first period.
The teams would go on to exchange goals throughout the rest of the period, with the lead going back and forth multiple times. The Jets first responded with two goals of their own before the Avs would get two back, restoring their one-goal lead, this time making it 3-2. However, the Jets would tie the game late in the period, and that is where the scoring stopped for the first frame.
There is still time for the Avs to tie the game, and at this point, this series is must-watch hockey for every fan of the sport.
