Colby Barlow dropped the gloves for the Winnipeg Jets in their prospects game against the Edmonton Oilers, and, it's been impressive to watch him step up. In this Young Stars Classic, he's shown why the Jets picked him in the first round in 2023, leading by example.

Barlow has been making plays and standing up for his teammates, which says a lot about his character. Jets fans should be excited about the future after seeing him in action during this tournament run.
Another standout has been Kevin Lambert, who looks like he's a step ahead of the competition. He's one to keep an eye on during training camp, and it seems like he's primed for a huge junior season.
As for Barlow, he's got more time to fine-tune his game, but the signs are all positive.
In the game against Edmonton, the Jets blanked the Oilers 2-0, with Thomas Milic earning a 27-save shutout. Henri Nikkanen added some insurance, redirecting a great feed from Barlow past Brett Brochu.
Barlow seemed to pick things up in the third period, and while Sam O'Reilly looked better for Edmonton, the Oilers struggled in the tournament, scoring one goal in three games.
Speaking of that lone goal, Matt Savoie did assist on it, but he hasn't really stood out. He wasn't the go-to guy and must find another level at the main camp or he might face an early cut.
Meanwhile, Barlow, is showing why the Jets invested in him. Earlier this weekend, he set up Dmitry Kuzmin for the OT game-winner against Calgary to kick off the Young Stars tournament with a 4-3 victory.
That fake shot Barlow used to freeze the goalie before passing to Kuzmin? Pure class. It's shaping up to be an exciting season for Jets fans with this young talent.
