The Winnipeg Jets have been counting on Cole Perfetti to grow into an NHL star over the past few years, and in 71 games during the 2023/24 season, the 22-year old posted career highs with 19 goals and 38 points. Unfortunately, the campaign was incredibly up and down, as he posted 29 points in his first 40 games before being demoted to the fourth line, ultimately adding just another 9 points over the final 31 games of the season, leading to questions about his future in Winnipeg.
With Rick Bowness now gone as Head Coach of the Jets, the future could become brighter for Perfetti, with the former No. 10 overall pick officially a Restricted Free Agent as he looks to sort out his future. According to users of PuckPedia, his next deal has been predicted, with the consensus being that a bride deal is the best move for him to make, with his salary comparisons seeing his deal come in at around $3.82M per season.
While the production under Bowness was inconsistent at best, Perfetti still has the size and the unquestioned skill to be a star at the NHL level, with 2024/25 set to be a make-or-break year for his future in Winnipeg. If he doesn't produce, it's unclear what his future could look like, but given his talent and potential, it may make the most sense for both parties if they lock in on a two or three year bridge deal.
