Today NHL commissioner Gary Bettman spoke about his meetings with the Winnipeg Jets organization. During Bettman's remarks, he made a majorly disrespectful comment about the Jets fan base.

Bettman Disrespects The Winnipeg Jets Faithful During Recent Press Conference

During his press conference, Gary Bettman addressed the speculation that the franchise could be moved out of Winnipeg. When commenting on the situation Bettman tells Jets fans that the team isn't leaving and that they need to get over their anxiety.
«If I didn't believe in places like Winnipeg, we wouldn't have brought the Jets back. Get over your anxiety and come to games.»

Comments like this are frustrating to hear from Bettman. He and the NHL come into Winnipeg without much of an announcement. An insider claims it is to address a lack of attendance and then a stakeholder in the team shares his concerns for the future of the franchise. Take all of these factors into account and the Jets fans' anxiety is well warranted.
On top of all of this Bettman does not flat out deny the possibility of relocation for the Jets. He confirms attendance needs to improve and that he is confident it will.
«I'm not sure why people are now speculating that [the team] is not gonna be here. Obviously, the attendance needs to improve. It will. I have confidence in this organization.»

However, if the attendance is not improved in Winnipeg what is the next step? This is something Bettman did not address necessarily. Hopefully, for Jets fans things work themselves out and the Winnipeg Jets stay in Winnipeg for a long time to come.
