After another successful season at the University of Michigan, there was a possibility that 2022 first-round draft pick Rutger McGroarty would be headed to the professional level, but on Monday, the opposite was confirmed.
In his second season with the Wolverines, McGroarty tallied an impressive 52 points in 36 games played, but at 20-years of age, he's still got some growing to do before making the jump to the NHL.
One major positive is that Mike McIntyre, a reporter for the Jets has revealed it is likely McGroarty becomes captain at Michigan next season, and for the Jets team looking to grow their young core, leadership qualities like this are incredibly necessary.
McGroarty's future in the NHL is incredibly bright, but we won't see that this season, and instead it is more than likely his junior season will be his farewell to the University of Michigan.
