The Winnipeg Jets have a specific need to fill as they look for a veteran to add experience and grit on their second line, and Nazem Kadri fits that perfectly.

The Jets are in win-now mode and should explore all options to ensure that happens, which includes bringing in an experienced veteran from another team, such as Calgary Flames Nazem Kadri.
Nazem Kadri is about to begin his third season of the seven-year contract he signed in the summer of 2022 worth $49 million. He would definitely be a long-term solution for the Jets, unlike most of the moves the team made in the past. The Jets already had interest in Kadri once before when he was on the trading block from the Leafs. He was ultimately traded to the Colorado Avalanche instead.
Nazem Kadri would bring his Stanley Cup experience to the Jets after he was able to hoist it with the Colorado Avalanche back in 2022. Not only did he come back from a thumb injury and play, but he managed to score the OT winner in Game 4 that put the Avs up 3 to 1 in the series that they ultimately won in six games. Look at Kadri this way, he played on an abysmal Flames team that missed the playoffs and still managed to score 29 goals and get 75 points while playing in every single game, not even missing one.
Nazem Kadri does have a no-trade clause in his contract so he would have to agree to a move first before it gets finalized. A reason he would likely say yes to the Jets is due to where both teams are right now. Kadri is 34 and has no more time to waste playing on a rebuilding team. The Jets are ready to win now, and adding Kadri could really help the team challenge for the Cup next season, something that Kadri would no doubt absolutely want to be a part of.
To Jets fans worried about Nazem Kadri's cap hit, the salary cap is expected to rise over the next few years, which would allow Kadri's salary to not take up as much of a chunk on the cap as it normally would. That would still allow the team some flexibility for other priorities as well.
