Steve Bégin, a former star for the Montreal Canadiens, has announced his bankruptcy following an unsuccessful investment, shocking fans and the hockey community. The news emerged on Thursday when Bégin, now 46, took to Facebook to share the update.

In his heartfelt post, Steve Bégin explained how his involvement in a civil engineering company since 2013 had led to his financial downfall. Investments are always a risky deal, but it's never easy to see a former star who we were all big fans of hit such hard times.
"The civil engineering company in which I had been proposed to invest large sums of money since 2013, has gone bankrupt, which has had a negative impact on my financial situation and consequently also caused a bankruptcy. I could have tried to avoid the subject, but opted to talk openly about it, as I believe there are lessons to be learned," he wrote.

The former NHL star heartbreakingly shared the emotional toll the investment has taken on him and his loved ones.
"I find this experience very trying, disappointing and above all hurtful for me and those close to me, but as always, I'll keep pushing forward to achieve great projects despite this ordeal,"

Bégin was always known for his more physical approach to hockey, with him garnering many fans because of this.
Before his time with the Canadiens, Bégin was drafted 40th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. Throughout his career, he also played for the Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins, Nashville Predators, and Calgary Flames, appearing in a total of 524 NHL games. Over his career, Bégin recorded 56 goals and 52 assists, contributing consistently as a solid depth player.
We want to extend our best wishes to Steve Bégin during this time and hope he finds success in his future. As Bégin himself said, he's determined to push forward, and his resilience is sure to lead him to better days ahead. To say he's a trooper would be an understatement, as many would crumble after an event like this, but his spirit stays strong and we respect him for that.
