In a heartwarming display of solidarity, and an extremely thoughtful gesture, the St. Louis Blues, donated $10,000 to assist the family of former Blues and Edmonton Oilers forward, Kyle Brodziak.

The donation comes after a devastating accident involving Brodziak's brother, Ryan, and his nephew, Ozzy, who were struck by an out-of-control vehicle while walking their dog, Gouda, in their Sherwood Park neighborhood.
Ryan and Ozzy were simply out enjoying a walk when a car came and smashed into both of them and their two dogs. Luckily, both survived and are now recovering. It's no doubt that this is a terrible tragedy, but the Blues have rallied behind the family in an amazing way.
According to a GoFundMe page established earlier this week, Ryan «suffered a significant spinal cord injury, resulting in multiple fractures to his spine,» and remains paralyzed while awaiting emergency surgery. His 11-month-old son, Ozzy, is recovering from fractures to his skull and left arm at the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton.
Kyle Brodziak spent some considerable time with the St. Louis Blues, and they just proved that not only have they not forgotten about him, but they also care for him and his family, by supporting him in his time of need with an astounding $10,000 donation.
Kyle Brodziak, who began and ended his NHL career with the Edmonton Oilers, is a well-known figure in both the Oilers and Blues communities. Over his 14-season career, Brodziak played 917 NHL games, recording 129 goals and 296 points, and was a key player for the Oilers, Blues, and Minnesota Wild.
The GoFundMe page dedicated to Ryan Brodziak's recovery describes him as «a pillar of the Edmonton community,» and notes his roles as a loving husband, a new father, and a dedicated community member. The page has raised an impressive $188,930 through more than 1,700 donations as of Thursday afternoon.

Ryan is known as an amazing person who has done so much good for his community. He owns and operates multiple restaurants in Edmonton and co-organizes a Bikeathon each year to benefit the city's unhoused population. The community has rallied around him in this time of need, and the Blues' contribution further underscores the deep bonds within the hockey community.
