Rutger Mcgroarty is caught lying to Winnipeg Jets fans in an old, resurfaced video.

In the video, Mcgroarty states that the Winnipeg Jets have always been his favourite team, and that he grew up a Jets fan, even saying that he loves the team. According to Kevin Cheveldayoff, Mcgroarty asked for a trade because «it didn't feel right» when he put on the Jets jersey, something he has recieved much ridicule for on social media since the trade.
Mcgroarty was dealt to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 1 for 1 trade, with the Jets receiving prospect Brayden Yager in return. Jets fans almost immediately turned on Mcgroarty once he was traded, not happy with the fact that he did not want to play for their favourite team.
This video makes Mcgroarty's comments about not feeling right in a Jets jersey even more confusing than they already appeared. If Mcgroarty truly didn't like it in Winnipeg, then why would he say he loves the organization and that they were his favourite team?
Yager is a highly touted prospect and Jets fans should be happy to get a player that actually wants to play for their franchise, instead of a player who's heart wouldn't be in it.
Mcgroarty did not do himself any favours with Jets fans across the country, and will most certainly be booed very loudly whenever he plays in Winnipeg as a member of the Penguins.
