With the playoffs upcoming, injuries are the last thing a team needs, and now Rick Bowness has announced an update on veteran Nino Niederreiter.

The Winnipeg Jets have been stumbling into the playoffs this season, with just one victory in their past seven games, but unfortunately, the good news simply doesn't last long this season. During the game against the Los Angeles Kings, veteran forward Nino Niederreiter suffered an injury, and on Wednesday, Head Coach Rick Bowness gave an update on his situation.
#NHLJets Head Coach Rick Bowness says Nino Niederreiter will be out for «about a week.»

He says Niederreiter got cut in the back of his leg. He added that they are hoping it's not longer than a week.

Stanley is sick. Lowry + Monahan got maintenance days today.
While incidents involving skates cutting people can result in much worse injuries, if Neiderreiter does miss only a week of action after getting stitches in the back of his leg, it could be considered a major win for Winnipeg. Nothing on a timeline can be 100% confirmed however, with some around the team still fearing that he could miss more than a week of action.
#NHLJets HC Rick Bowness says Nino Niederreiter has a pretty deep gash. Hopefully he's not out longer than a week, says Bowness.
It took a mighty effort for the Jets to snap their six-game losing skid, so the last thing they need is injuries with the playoffs less than a month away, but with luck on the injury front, this team will still be a major threat when the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin.
