The Winnipeg Jets were one of the many teams to load up at the trade deadline in preparation for the playoffs. Last night in their first game with their new additions the Jets struggled heavily. The frustrating game led to a bold statement from head coach Rick Bowness.
Jets Get Blown Out In Western Conference Heavyweight Matchup
The Jets faced off against the Vancouver Canucks last night. Two teams looking to take control of the Western Conference. What should've been a highly contested close game turned into a blowout quickly.
The Jets would lose 5-0 including a three-goal first period from the Canucks. After the game, Rick Bowness spoke to the media about the loss. His remarks show just how embarrassed the team was of their performance.
Bowness Rips Into His Team After Embarrassing Loss
During his post-game press conference, Rick Bowness did not hold back when talking about the game. Bowness admitted that his team's performance was one of the worst in his tenure as head coach.
"Whatever my message was before the game was clearly wrong," Bowness said, according to Sportsnet. "So it starts with that, I guess. Listen, the bottom line is: That's the worst game we have played in my two years here, by far. Cause we didn't have one player play a good game, not one. So it starts there and it ends there, it's as simple as that."
Some pretty harsh words from a head coach whose team is currently in a playoff spot. Occasionally teams have a tough night and lay an egg. The Jets will have one day off before they get a chance to get back on track against the Washington Capitals.
