The Winnipeg Jets have made some solid moves this summer, but it was the return of a veteran goaltender that excited Mark Scheifele the most.
Mark Scheifele has spent his entire career with the Winnipeg Jets, dating back to the draft of 2011, and throughout that time he's spent plenty of playing time alongside goaltender Eric Comrie, who has been a Winnipeg Jet for four seasons. Now, after spending the last two seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, he's officially back in Winnipeg, with the 29-year old inking a two-year deal to be a depth piece for this team moving forward.
No one was more excited than Scheifele about this news, as he has detailed his excitement in a recent interview, revealing that he was potentially more excited about the return than Comrie himself.
Last season, the Jets moved on after a headache of a summer and put together a fantastic campaign, and with the vibes seemingly up again this summer, they'll look to go one step further in 2024/25 after a first-round exit in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It's unclear how much Comrie will play for the team this season, but if he can provide depth and solid play when needed, it will be a good pickup for a team that's motivated to make a big statement this year.
