Every major NHLer wants their time in the limelight, whether that happens with insane plays or brutal fights. In today's game between the Rangers and Islanders, one rookie took the latter route.

Rookie Ranger Drops Gloves Against Veteran Islanders Player

Matthew Rempe made his debut with the NHL today during the game between the two New York teams. In the very first period, he decided to start fighting with one of the toughest players in the league: Matt Martin.
"Matt Rempe NHL debut dropping the glovesnot a big deeeal 🥊"
At 6'3" and 215 pounds, Martin is no joke. However, Rempe is 6'8" and 241 pounds, making this a clear advantage for him. He gives Martin several clear hits to the head, unleashing blows that would be hard for any player to take.

Rempe Applauded For First Game Fighting

This 21-year-old rookie may have just become a fan favorite after his insane fight against Matt Martin before the puck even dropped. With more than 900 games less than him, Rempe seems to have gained the respect of NHL fans.
"First NHL shift and first NHL Fight in front of 70,000 people.

Matt Rempe is a legend."
After spending the past two seasons in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack, this fight may just be what Rempe needed to advance in the world of hockey.
