McDavid finished the Oiler's last game against Winnipeg on the bench despite the game going to overtime. He did not take a single shift in the extra frame, leading many fans to believe he was dealing with an injury. Now that injury news has been confirmed.
In classic NHL fashion, the team is being secretive about the specifics of the injury, listing it simply as an upper-body injury and he will be out one to two weeks. Luckily, the Oilers have a relatively light schedule in the coming weeks, as they play just five games between now and November 4th. McDavid will, however, likely miss the Heritage Classic against the Flames next Sunday.
In the meantime, the Oilers will have to find a way to solidify their offense without McDavid. Historically, that has not been an easy task for the team.
