The San Jose Sharks had a difficult season in 2022-23. They are looking to bounce back and make some progress toward the playoffs again. After trading Erik Karlsson away the roster is full of young players. Now one of the few veterans left is facing a big injury.

Sharks Captain Sustains Mysterious Injury

The San Jose Sharks announced today that Logan Couture sustained an injury while training during the offseason. As of now, they say he is week to week.
Logan Couture is week to week with a lower body injury
The announcement does not say how or when exactly Couture sustained his injury. Regardless he will miss the first few weeks of the season. This is one of the few injuries Couture has dealt with. Last season he played all 82 games and had 67 points. Now the Sharks will have to find a way forward without him.

Sharks Young Guns Will Need To Step Up

In Couture's absence, some of the young forwards in San Jose will need to step up. Players like Filip Zadina and Fabian Zetterlund are expected to make the roster. Others like Thomas Bordeleau and William Eklund are likely to challenge for roster spots.
The Sharks need to start showing some progress toward the playoffs again. If they don't players like Logan Couture and Marc-Edouard Vlasic could find themselves on the trade block in favor of younger talent.
This season will be a good barometer for how far along in their rebuild the Sharks are. If their young players can outperform expectations the Sharks could surprise some people.
