Jets Give A Major Update On An Injury To A Key Forward

During his press conference, Rick Bowness was asked for an update on Gabe Vilardi. In his answer, Bowness confirmed that Vilardi will be with the team for the two-game road trip but has not been practicing.
#NHLJets HC Rick Bowness says Nate Schmidt battled the flu in Buffalo - which explains his TOI of 11:20 in that game. So Logan Stanley is in.
Gabe Vilardi (UBI) will travel with the team to SEA & VAN but there was not much offered info wise other than he'll be with the team.
#NHLJets coach Rick Bowness says Gabe Vilardi is out tonight. He will travel with the team tomorrow for two-game road trip, but no other update re potential availability beyond upper-body injury and hasn't skated (with group or on own).
With Bowness' update, it sounds as though the injury is not thought to be long-term. This latest injury for Vilardi continues a worrying trend of his inability to stay healthy. Hopefully, for the Jets and Vilardi, he will be back on the ice contributing soon.
As updates are provided on Vilardi and his potential return to play we will pass them along to you.
