Insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed the NHL's plans for upcoming salary cap increases, generating buzz among fans and players.

Friedman Reveals Major Salary Cap News

Elliotte Friedman's recent appearance on the 32 Thoughts podcast shed light on the NHL's salary cap strategy:
Friedman: The Hagel deal..

Marek: is a pretty good indication that the cap is going up

Friedman: They're expecting the cap to go up 4 million next year and 5 million the year after.

Upcoming Salary Cap Projections
Based on Friedman's insights, projected salary cap figures for the next years are:
2023-24: $83.5 million
2024-25: $87.5 million
2025-26: $92.5 million

Positive Impact on Teams

This increase will help many contending teams stay contenders. We saw Boston have to trade Taylor Hall away for essentially nothing due to cap constraints earlier this offseason and the Islanders paid a 2nd round pick to get Josh Bailey off their books.
This cap raise will allow teams to keep their players and will not have to lose out on future assets to get some off the books. This also will help cap-strapped teams sign their star players who will be commanding raises.
