An update, or lack of, regarding Evander Kane was brought up in the media, and it's safe to say there doesn't appear to be any progress made.

Earlier this summer, word came from Oilers president Jeff Jackson that Evander Kane had been managing a lingering hip injury. How that will affect his future in Edmonton remains to be determined by his camp and the team.
Fast forward to Tuesday, while everyone was abuzz over Leon Draisaitl's historic contract extension, GM Stan Bowman threw in a bit of an update on Evander Kane. Talking to Bob Stauffer on 'Oilers Now', Bowman said they're expecting more clarity on Kane's health in the next 7-10 days. Frustrating? Absolutely, but that's where things stand for now.
Some rumors have swirled for months that the Oilers would like to trade Evander Kane in a cap-saving deal. He has two years remaining on his deal with a $5.125 million AAV and the team needs to clear space before the opener in October. There's also been some discussion of the possibility of placing him on LTIR, too, which just shows you there's a continued disconnect between Kane and the Oilers over the injury and his ability to play.
Evander Kane has a full no-movement clause until February 28th, at which time it switches to a 15-team no-trade list. He's had multiple injuries in the past, but he's been able to fight through them time and again. However, Edmonton needs to do what's best for the team if they want to win, specifically after being so close to the Stanley Cup.
This decision to put Evander Kane on LTIR might be the smartest move for them at the moment with all of the big contracts they have dished out, such as Leon Draisaitl's. They also need to free up space to re-sign Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard down the road.
The Oilers have a lot of work to do!
