Jaromir Jagr is a name that few hockey fans are unaware of. The legend of the sport is one of the greatest of all time, playing well into his 50s. Today he revealed that he plans to retire next season, but he will be documenting his final days as a player.

The 52-year-old last played in the NHL during the 2017-18 season when he got into 22 games with the Calgary Flames, recording a single goal and 7 points. Since then he has continued his career in his home country, playing for the team he owns in the Czech league. This season his team was in danger of being relegated so he suited up again, playing a big role in his team's victory to stay in the top league.
What's 52-year-old Jaromir Jagr up to today?

Oh, not much. Just scoring a goal to help the team he owns avoid relegation. No big deal
In the first game of the relegation series, Jagr scored, becoming the oldest professional player to ever score a goal in any league. The remarkable thing is he's not done yet.
#JaromirJagr returned to action on Thursday April 18, 2024 for the first time since turning 52 and immediately scored as he surpassed legend #GordieHowe to become the oldest player taking regular shifts in professional ice hockey. #MakingHistory
The legend of the game reported today that next season will finally be his last. He will be retiring upon the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.
Jaromr Jágr mentioned in an interview for CNN Prima News that the next season is going to be his last ever.

But hey, you never know. It's Jágr.
However, the superstar has one trick left up his sleeve. He plans on recording his final season, essentially making a documentary about his final days as a professional hockey player and about his career as a whole.
"We have a plan with filmmaker Peter Vetrovsky to film my last season. So I will try to physically prepare for it as best as possible. I keep saying I'd like to prepare, and then I don't prepare. But I would really like to prepare professionally for my last season."

It will be a sad day for hockey fans all around the world of many ages when Jagr is finally done playing. However, we can't say he hasn't earned it.
