Report reveals the surprising salary of NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman

Gary Bettman has played an important role in the NHL over the past few decades, and now through investigation, his intriguing salary has been revealed.
The NHL has been a steadily improving business in the past few years, and while the players salaries certainly don't match up to other North American sports, they're certainly getting pretty wealthy. Now, a recent report from Ian Thomas has revealed the salary of Commissioner Gary Bettman, using informed speculation as they revealed he earned just under $10 million a decade ago.
That said, reporter Ian Thomas mentioned that Gary Bettman pocketed more than $9.6 million in salary and benefits just during the 2013-2014 season.
He had pocketed $8.8 million in salary and benefits the previous year (and $8 million in 2011-2012).

Now, Habs Fanatics have used their predictive model to see just how much Bettman earns in 2024, and while there's no official guarantee that this number is perfect, it would come as no shock to everyone that he seemingly earns more than every player on the ice.
Even though his current salary is highly confidential, if we rely on the increases from 2011 to 2015, we can probably assert, without too much error, that he likely makes more than $15 million per year currently
Despite the players on the ice being the main attraction that sells the NHL to fans, Bettman plays a key role in everything, but to earn more than every player in the league does on a yearly basis is absolutely shocking. We may never officially get a true confirmation on Bettman's earnings, but with this, we are confident this is a realistic number, and given the criticism of Bettman, it's safe to say that this number is just a little too high.
