Two investor groups held meetings with the NHL commissioner Gary Bettman to discuss possible expansion or relocation plans.
The insider Kevin Weekes announced that Gary Bettman met with investor groups from Houston and Atlanta to talk about bringing the league to those cities.
Here's his full declaration:
"👀 I'm told that members of the Tilman Fertitta led Houston group, and the Vernon Krause led Atlanta group are meeting with the @NHL in NYC. #HockeyTwitter #HockeyX"
The two recent expansion teams, the Vegas Golden Knights and the Seattle Kraken, have proven to be very lucrative for everyone involved. It only makes sense to see Bettman pursuing such opportunities.
We may not see an expansion team soon, but a relocation in the coming years is plausible. Considering many cities want a team, we could see a 33rd or 34th team sooner than later.
