Last night former Winnipeg Jets defenseman and current New York Ranger Jacob Trouba got himself in trouble. During a game against the Carolina Hurricanes, Jacob Trouba handed out a dirty hit that could lead to a suspension.

The former Jets defenseman is in pursuit of a Stanley Cup with the President's Trophy winning New York Rangers.
During last night's second-round game, Jacob Trouba came flying in to make a hit on Hurricanes Martin Necas. As he hit Martin Necas, Jacob Trouba went flying violently into the boards and his skate almost cut Martin Necas' face.
I don't know if I've ever seen a play where someone almost kills someone else twice and themselves once, but I'm not surprised it involved Trouba
On the play, Martin Necas goes down hurt as Jacob Trouba flies head-first into the boards. As Jacob Trouba is getting back up he almost kicks Martin Necas in the head further injuring him more seriously. Now fans are calling for Jacob Trouba to face punishment for his reckless play.
I'm sorry but Jacob Trouba deserves a suspension . This is a clear intent to injure a player. Had that elbow connected we'd be talking about a potential 5+ game suspension. Though it didn't land the intent was clearly there. The NHL preaches player safety. So let's see what happens #CauseChaos #NYR
Jacob Trouba is a disgrace to the title he bares.

There is no universe where this is even remotely close to trying to make a clean play in any sport.

He is 1. Trying to head-to-head spear him while he is nearly parallel to the ice

Or 2. Attempting a flying elbow to the head
It remains to be seen whether or not Jacob Trouba faces punishment for this terrible hit that he attempted to make. Despite missing the hit his intentions were clear and that should matter when looking at potential discipline. With this occurring in the playoffs and no penalty called on the play a suspension is unlikely but a hefty fine could be coming Jacob Trouba's way.
