Blockbuster Trade Proposal Emerges Between Edmonton and Montreal That Would See Caufield Reunite with Former Teammate

The Edmonton Oilers are in a crisis. They have just fired their Head Coach and Assistant Coach, and are desperately trying to save the season that many thought would see them hoisting a Stanley Cup at the end of it. Now, they are at risk of missing the playoffs entirely.

Out of this separation have come many rumours of potential trades that could help turn the Oilers' season around. The main focus for Edmonton, of course, would be to improve between the pipes. Montreal could have just the answer for that, seeing as they have three goaltenders of NHL quality.

The potential trade making its way around online would see the Montreal Canadiens trade Jake Allen to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for the Oilers' Dylan Holloway. The deal would be 1-for-1.

Holloway is a good potential piece to trade away given the Oilers' inability to give him the ice time he needs to fully develop. The young forward had some great numbers in the NCAA and has played all 13 games with the Oilers to start the year, however, he has only recorded 1 goal.

Holloway played his NCAA at Wisconsin, the same university that the Canadiens' Cole Caufield played at. The former teammates would likely love a reunion, and this could give Holloway the confidence to continue his development. Holloway has had some great success in the AHL, and it will likely cross over into NHL success as he develops.
