A new report from an NHL insider has suggested the Vancouver Canucks could be part of a huge three-team trade with the Capitals and Canadiens.

NHL Insider Connects Canucks Forward To Washington

During a recent media appearance NHL insider Elliotte Friedman spoke about the potential impending trade of Andrei Kuzmenko. Friedman believes there could be a natural fit for Kuzmenko with the Washington Capitals.
"I think Washington is a team that has looked at Kuzmenko, but I just don't see a trade possibility with them, it's not like the Canucks are going to take Anthony Mantha" - Friedman

The Capitals would take the struggling and outcasted Kuzmenko for a struggling former star in Anthony Mantha who would head to Vancouver. Friedman does feel this trade on its own is unlikely as the Canucks do not see Mantha as a high value asset.
However, a new suggestion has given life back to this trade with a third team entering the picture.

Canadiens Come In To Complete A Huge Three-Team Trade

A writer at Habs Fanatics suggests that the Montreal Canadiens could be the perfect middleman for this trade.
The Canadiens have plenty of extra salary cap space. They could take on Mantha's contract along with an extra sweetener to get the deal done.
The Canucks then would just get picks or prospects in return for getting rid of Kuzmenko the same as any other trade they would do involving him.
TO MONTREAL:
- Anthony Mantha, for this season only
- A 1st or 2nd round pick

TO VANCOUVER:
- A pick/a prospect

TO WASHINGTON:
- Andrei Kuzmenko

With this trade, the Capitals add to their struggling forward group. The Canucks add picks and prospects for a player they no longer want anyway. Then the Canadiens pick up a draft pick as well as a player they could fit into their middle six for the rest of the season.
While this trade is nowhere near being completed it does show a swap is still possible that gets Andrei Kuzmenko to Washington.
