Connor Hellebuyck trade rumors have been flying all summer long. Several teams have been mentioned in the running for Hellebuyck. Hellebuyck has one year left on his contract at around 6 million dollars.

If the Jets are hoping to trade him sooner rather than later will be better. Today three main contenders have been made known according to Inside The Rink. We will take a look at each of the options and which might be the best fit.

New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time with their young core. Players like Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier and Dougie Hamilton are leading their group into the future. They did deal with a lot of uncertainty in goal throughout the 2022-23 season.
In comes Hellebuyck who can instantly stabilize that position for the Devils. The Devils also have several prospects that they can send out without decimating their prospect system. The Devils may want to stick with Vitek Vanecek and Akira Schmid but if they feel a change is necessary the Jets should be their first call.

Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres are one of the fastest-rising teams in the NHL. After a decade of sitting near the bottom of the standings the Sabres were just barely on the outside looking in at the end of the 2022-23 season. Their biggest problem throughout the season was a lack of consistent goaltending.
They of course did get help from Devon Levi during the stretch run. With Levi being so young there are worries that he will not be able to handle a full starting role. Connor Hellebuyck would be the perfect goaltender to allow Levi to ease into more games. The Sabres also have young goaltender Ukko-Pekka Lukkonen that they could offer in return to the Jets along with several other promising prospects.

Vegas Golden Knights

The Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights could be on the goaltender market at some point during the upcoming season. Their current situation has their starter slated to be All-Star Logan Thompson.
Thompson was good in his first season in the NHL putting up a 2.65 goals-against-average and a 0.915 save percentage. He did struggle to stay healthy though putting Vegas in a tough spot during their playoff run. If the Golden Knights could bring in Connor Hellebuyck it could stabilize the position while they evaluate if Logan Thompson is the long-term solution.
Each of these options has its positives and negatives. All the teams have young goaltenders who have small sample sizes of good play. For each team though stability and reliability are needed to reach their ultimate goals. Hellebuyck could be the perfect answer to provide these things in the short and long term.
