On the most recent episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman suggested a potential trade between the Carolina Hurricanes and Vancouver Canucks involving Martin Necas and Filip Hronek.

Since the Canucks and Hurricanes were both eliminated in the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, both have had star players wrapped up in trade rumors. For the Hurricanes, it is almost a given that they will be moving on from Czech forward Martin Necas.
Elliotte Friedman reports the latest on the Hurricanes' speedy forward.
[Elliotte Friedman] gets the sense Necas will be moved. Both don't see eye to eye anymore.

Friedman then went on to discuss a potential trade between the Hurricanes and Canucks as the Hurricanes were offering Necas up in a trade package for Elias Pettersson that fell through. He also mentioned how Necas to the Canucks is still in the cards.
[Elliotte Friedman] says Necas was in a potential Petterson to CAR deal. Also wonders if #Canucks are still interested in Necas. Wonders about a Hronek for Necas swap type of deal

Necas for Canucks defenseman Filip Hronek would certainly shake things up a bit as it would give the Canucks a young star forward the Hurricanes would get a young star defenseman.
Just over a year ago, the Canucks traded away a first-round pick and a second-round pick for Hronek's services. Hronek is coming off of a solid season with the Canucks but had a very disappointing playoffs that may have led to him not being a fit with the Canucks.
