Rumors are circulating about a potential trade involving Nikolaj Ehlers and the Winnipeg Jets, driven by the Jets' need to move him quickly due to contract issues.

«He [Ehlers] could be traded elsewhere during the offseason. There are several names coming up in the situation, as mentioned by The Fourth Period. Notably, there are the Hurricanes, the Islanders, the Bruins...

And the Canadiens.» - Charles-Alexis Brisebois

It's intriguing to see Canadiens GM Kent Hughes making moves, even post-draft, showing his intent to secure a key player.
One important point is that Hughes is unlikely to proceed without ensuring a contract with Ehlers worth less than $7.5 million per year.
Ehlers would also be an interesting addition to the Hurricanes lineup in particular, considering they're need for another strong forward and reliable forward. The Bruins are another likely candidate considering the fact that Bergeron retired, and they need to find someone who can perform as consistently as he did.
Nikolaj Ehlers is known for his speed. Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds, he was the 9th overall pick in the 2014 draft and scored 61 points, including 25 goals, in the 2023-2024 season.
In his NHL career, Ehlers has made 457 points, including 201 goals, across 605 games with the Jets.
