This season, the Vancouver Canucks are looking more ready than ever to make a deep playoff run. However, with ten days left before the trade deadline, a new rumor states that they could part ways with one of their top players, who's not sure he wants to stay in Vancouver.

Insider Rick Dhaliwal Shares Concerns About Elias Pettersson's Future with the Canucks

There's been a lot of talk about whether Elias Pettersson will stick with the Canucks. His contract expires at the end of the season, and if the star forward has some doubts about his future in Vancouver, the team could decide to trade him.
Rick Dhaliwal mentioned that Pettersson being traded isn't off the table.
Dhaliwal on Pettersson negotiations:

Canucks aren't getting any indication from Pettersson that he wants to be here long-term. There's frustration there. I have no intel he wants out.

Up until now I always thought EP would re-sign but I'm not so sure now.
Dhaliwal hasn't heard anything about Pettersson wanting to leave, but there's also no news of him nearing a contract extension.

Elliotte Friedman Weighs In on a Potential Trade Involving Elias Pettersson

Elliotte Friedman, another NHL insider, talked with Dhaliwal about Pettersson's situation. He mentioned that the Canucks have a real shot at winning the Stanley Cup this year and thinks Pettersson will make up his mind in the summer.
"They could win the Stanley Cup here guys, I would be surprised if anything happens now.."

@FriedgeHNIC on his report on the #Canucks receiving calls on Elias Pettersson, how he believes Pettersson feels about Vancouver and more.
The fact that the Canucks are performing well this season is definitely a plus. Other journalists have noted that Pettersson's main goal is winning. David Pagnotta mentioned that this focus on victory is why he hasn't started contract negotiations yet.
This isn't about money; Pettersson is focused on winning. That's why he shut down talks last off-season he wanted to fully prepare for this year and help the Canucks bring a championship to Vancouver. His patience, so far, is paying off.

This will be a situation to follow closely as the trade deadline looms.
More to come.
