The Edmonton Oilers are on the verge of losing Philip Broberg, but according to reports, it's a relationship that's been broken for some time.

For a long time now, Philip Broberg has been a promising piece of the future for the Edmonton Oilers, but this week, he was offer sheeted by the St. Louis Blues, meaning his future may lay beyond the Oilers. Now, a new report has revealed that may not be the worst thing for the young defenseman, whose relationship with the team hasn't been on good footing for a while.
Last year, Broberg's camp requested a trade from the Oilers, and the way it was handled in the public eye certainly didn't help the way Broberg perceived his role and his future with the team.
As we know, no trade ever eventuated, but either did an extension, with former GM Ken Holland told to extend him earlier last season, but ultimately he never did, and now Broberg wants out again. At this point, there's been no indication of whether or not the Oilers will look to match the Blues offer sheet for Broberg, but if they do, it wouldn't go down well with the young blue liner.
Despite performing well in the AHL, the team have continued to play the likes of Cody Ceci and Brett Kulak above Broberg, and with the opportunity to head elsewhere, the 21-year old isn't upset, even if his chances of a Stanley Cup decrease significantly while joining the Blues.
