The Columbus Blue Jackets are building an incredibly talented young core, and now they've locked up yet another young piece to help their push for the playoffs.

After years of struggles, the Columbus Blue Jackets are putting together a core that has plenty of elite talent, with the team recently locking up one of those in Kent Johnson on a three-year deal. On Sunday, they followed it up with another move as the team officially announced that Kirill Marchenko, just days from his arbitration hearing has been locked up, also on a three-year deal.
Kirill Marchenko has agreed to terms on 3 year $3.850 AAV extension with #CBJ P.S. From Ann Arbor with love, Go Blue! #WeAreGoldStar!
The 24-year old put together a career year in 2023/24 with an impressive 23 goals and 42 points in 78 games played, and now he is projected to be alongside Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan on the teams top line. With the Patrik Laine factor, that may change, but with a deal worth $3.85 million AAV, it's clear that he's a huge part of the teams future, and if he takes a big step forward, this will be an intriguing team in 2024/25.
Alongside Adam Fantili, Johnson and the likes of Cayden Lindstrom for the future, things are looking up in Columbus, and if they all pan out, this should be a team that pushes for the playoffs before long.
