Edmonton were just moments away from the Stanley Cup in 2024, but the team still have improvements to make, and it may come from their biggest rival.
Andersson is beloved in Calgary, but it appears their fans and the team are ready to move on as they look towards their rebuild, but is a trade with the rival Oilers just a bit too much? At this point, General Manager Craig Conroy has shown he's open to just about anything, and after tallying 138 points over his past three years, Andersson will return the Flames a haul.
As for the fit in Edmonton, it would be a good one, as he would provide the offensive spark and the leadership that's needed beyond the Bouchard/Ekholm pairing, but it would cost them. Ultimately, the Oilers may just not have what it takes to make a deal, but with Andersson being available, they have to make a push if they are to take the next step towards the Stanley Cup in 2024/25.
