A new report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed that the Edmonton Oilers are the current favorites to sign veteran defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk.

The Edmonton Oilers have been trying to re-load their roster for the upcoming season after making the Stanley Cup Finals in 2023-24. In their offseason moves, they have made several more subtractions than they have additions. The Oilers have traded or lost Ryan McLeod, Cody Ceci, Philip Broberg, and Dylan Holloway all this summer.
With all of these losses, the Edmonton Oilers are now lacking major depth on their NHL roster especially when it comes to veterans. Luckily it seems one of the top remaining veteran free agents wants to sign with the Edmonton Oilers.

Edmonton Oilers become the favorite to land Kevin Shattenkirk

In a new report from Elliotte Friedman there are rumblings that Kevin Shattenkirk is hoping to be a part of the Edmonton Oilers. He remains a free agent and is apparently generating interest from several teams.
A further report from Pierre LeBrun confirms that Kevin Shattenkirk is in negotiations and waiting for the right fit before choosing a home for the 2024-25 NHL season.
With the NHL season on the verge of beginning Kevin Shattenkirk is expected to make a decision in the next couple of weeks. If the Edmonton Oilers are looking to add a cheap and experienced defenseman they won't find a much better option than Kevin Shattenkirk.
