After having drafted a top goalie prospect in Reid Dyck back in 2022, the Boston Bruins have lost him to the Utah Hockey Club this off-season.

Reid Dyck was considered one of the top goaltender prospects coming into the 2022 draft before ultimately being selected 183rd overall by the Boston Bruins. At 6'4", still just 20, and fresh off a standout year as a starter for the Swift Current Broncos last season, he's a big-bodied netminder with some upside. He wasn't quite working out in Boston, so they never did sign him.
Even after trading away their star goalie, Linus Ullmark, to the Ottawa Senators this summer, and with only the untested Brandon Bussi as a backup option, the Bruins decided to let Reid Dyck go. In all, this is all the more surprising considering Jeremy Swayman, their main guy, hasn't agreed to an extension yet, which is a move that feels pretty risky to the fans of the team.
It appears that Reid Dyck didn't waste any time finding a new job. He's now in training camp with the Utah Hockey Club, the former Arizona Coyotes team that's been moved to Salt Lake City by owner Ryan Smith and his Smith Entertainment Group, just a few months ago.
It would appear the Bruins are betting on Michael DiPietro, not Reid Dyck, to be their goaltender of the future. Yet to be seen, of course, is whether that gamble pays off or not.
