"The players can probably grow into those deals, but as of today, they're way above their actual performance," Bowman told The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun.
Both players left Edmonton after signing offer sheets with the Blues back in August. The 23-year-old Philip Broberg inked a two-year deal carrying an average annual value of $4.58 million, while Dylan Holloway, 22, secured a two-year contract at $2.29 million annually.
Philip Broberg spent most of last season in the AHL, where the 6-foot-4 blueliner posted 38 points in 49 games for the Bakersfield Condors. He appeared in 12 regular-season games for the Oilers and made an impact in the playoffs, scoring two goals and adding an assist in 10 postseason appearances. Edmonton originally selected Broberg eighth overall in the 2019 draft.
Dylan Holloway was one of those prospects, splitting time between the NHL and AHL last season, scoring six goals and nine points in 38 games for the Oilers, and 10 goals with 16 points in 18 AHL games. During Edmonton's deep playoff run, he notched five goals and seven points across all 25 games. Holloway was drafted 14th overall by the Oilers in 2020, coming off his college career at the University of Wisconsin.
