The Edmonton Oilers made a controversial decision to hire Stan Bowman, and it appears as though their President expected such backlash.

After weeks of speculation, the Edmonton Oilers finally made it official on Wednesday as they hired Stan Bowman, former Chicago Blackhawks GM in the same role. Unsurprisingly, fans weren't happy, and quickly noticed that Jeff Jackson made his X account private in order to avoid such backlash.
All this tells me (going protected) is that Jeff Jackson does in fact see the tweets and that they get to him.

He knows this move will be wildly unpopular.

Vent your disgust.
Bowman was famously banned from the NHL back in 2021 after his involvement in the Kyle Beach incident, protecting the perpetrator of a disgusting act, and on soical media, Oilers fans have vented their disgust with the team.
Jeff Jackson going private last night on Twitter is such a coward move. You want to hire Bowman? Fucking own everything that comes with that, including the fan response. Don't like it? Then don't hire him. What a joke.
«I made a great decision everyone should be very happy about and to showcase that I am going to go private so I can hide from the overwhelmingly positive responses I'm getting.»
At this point, it's clear that the Oilers have no care for anything except who they believe was the best candidate, regardless of the optics, and now, they'll hopefully deal with the backlash for some time to come.
