Ryan Johansen was about to make $8 million next season in his first with the Philadelphia Flyers, but they've just terminated his contract due to a material breach.

Ryan Johansen had only one year left on his $8 million contract with Philadelphia, but the team just put him on unconditional waivers with the purpose of terminating his contract. Insider Elliotte Friedman broke the news as well as the Flyers with an official statement.
The cause for termination was due to a material breach, but the exact details were not immediately provided as we wait to hear further news.
Ryan Johansen has said he is going to be grieving this termination. This is likely going to cause a substantial delay, but the Flyers appear to be ready to go the distance with this.
This was going to be Ryan Johansen's first year with the Flyers organization. In his career, he has played in almost 1,000 games, sitting at 905, and scored 202 goals and 578 points.
