Fans were in for an exciting turn of events, as the game between the Buffalo Sabres and Washington Capitals ended in regulation with a huge brawl.

What started as a skirmish with a few players against the wall with only a few seconds in the final period quickly grew to involve almost all the players left on the ice.

The brawl then split into two primary one-on-ones. The first of these occurred between 26-year-old Tage Thompson of the Sabres and the 35-year-old left-winger Max Pacioretty of the Capitals. The other started shortly after between Washington's Tom Wilson and Buffalo's Jordan Wilson, who fought earlier this season.

While these four fought it, fans were quick to joke about Alex Ovechkin's lack of action, who appears to just be waiting for the fights to end.
"Dawg ovi jus wants to go home 🧍🏻‍♂️"
Ultimately, the game was over after Jack Quinn scored the winning goal in Buffalo's last home game this season, with a final score of 4-2. With the Capitals down one more chance to make up points, their likelihood of making it to the playoffs wears thin.
