There's growing talk for the NHL to rename the Lady Byng Trophy to Johnny Gaudreau's name as a way of honoring the late Blue Jackets player.

JFresh from EPRinkside has suggested the Lady Byng Trophy needs to be retired due to it being voted on by the media rather than the NHLPA. For now, the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, given to the NHL player with the fewest penalties, is the only honor that has come his way in Johnny Gaudreau's career.
JFresh thinks it's time for a new award, the Gaudreau Trophy, that should be decided strictly by the players of the NHL. This is in response to an awful tragedy that occurred on August 29, which saw Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew tragically murdered by a suspected drunk driver while cycling on a two-lane road in New Jersey.
Johnny Gaudreau is a star who was initially playing for the Calgary Flames, having spent most of his career there, but then signed as a free agent with the Columbus Blue Jackets. This past season, he played in 81 games, notching 12 goals and 48 assists for a total of 60 points, and he only had 22 penalty minutes.
It would only be fitting for the NHL to notably continue Johnny Gaudreau's memory by either designing a new trophy or finding some other way through league-wide commemoration so that his legacy stays alive in the history of the NHL.
